Week 2

Hello!  Hello!  We are thrilled that you are here for the second week of class. This week we will be reading Module 3.  Module 2 will be an optional read because it specifically focuses on the first days of school.  The information is very appropriate and important but we wanted to honor the fact  that school has been in session for some time.  We only have eight weeks together so our main focus this week will be Module 3.

Read: Please read, Module 3: Teacher-Student Relationships from a Distance.

OPTIONAL READING:  Module 2: The First Days of School

Reflect: Post your response to one of the prompts below by Monday morning.

OPTION 1: We have students in our classrooms that are hard to reach for a myriad of reasons.  The virtual environment is making the issue more challenging and urgent.  Think of 1or 2 current students in your classroom that are “hard to reach” and/or “hard to teach.”  What have you been doing to reach them?  Using the information from this module, what will you do to continue to bridge the divide?

OR

OPTION 2: Picture the student that you have the most touchpoints with throughout the school week.  Picture the student who you have the least touchpoints with throughout the week.  What are some ideas from this module that can be used to increase your touchpoints with the latter student?

Interact: On Monday, read your colleagues' reflections and respond to at least one other post by sharing a comment, insight, or interesting possibility by next Thursday.
